The assembled product must preserve its sealing system

A connector may only achieve its rating when fully mated or capped as specified. After maintenance, follow the reassembly procedure and replace damaged sealing parts with approved replacements. Do not coat every joint in improvised sealant or drill a drainage hole and assume the original rating remains valid. A rating is not a reason to energize wet equipment immediately after an incident.
